81qgUqK9ilL._SL1260_I was ordinary. Nice. He was extraordinary. And he wasn’t always nice. Moody and difficult, brilliant and beautiful, Kes scared me and he protected me. He could be incredibly hurtful and incredibly thoughtful. He wasn’t perfect, but he was perfect for me. He challenged me, he took me out of my safe little box and showed me the world could be magnificent.

He was everything I wasn’t. Aimee Anderson is ten when the traveling carnival first comes to her nice little town. She doesn’t expect her world to change so completely. But meeting Kestrel Donohue puts her life on a different path. Even though she only sees him for the two weeks of the year when he passes through her home town, his friendship is the most important of her life. As a child’s friendship grows to adult love, the choices become harder, and both Kes and Aimee realize that two weeks a year will never be enough.

How can you put into words about a book that unexpectedly brought out alot of emotion but also took you on a journey through what wasn't perfect for the main characters but loved it!

The is the first book of Jane Berrick-Harvey I have read and certainly look forward to reading her other word.  This book had such an emotional not so perfect love story between Kestrel (Kes) the "Carnie" and Annie - your everyday Suburban girl from a small town. With two different worlds, two different upbringings, all pushed aside they were the perfect pair.

The story begins at their story from the age of 10 years old,
Kestrel arrives in Annie's small town along with the Carinval for two weeks. Annie's only wish she wanted for her birthday was to go to the Carnival. After they both met, their friendship bloomed with each day. With understanding for each others issues, each day at the carnival was their escape into their own world.

But how do you say goodbye to your friend each year after two fabulous weeks together, until the next year. So much distances and time, their lives always picked up where they left off to the next.

As time and age goes by and with feelings for one another heading more past friendship, things become more complicated then they can handle. Their choices sometimes came with consequences but that was the risk they took to be with that one person you only get to see for 14 days each year.

Their journey brings heartache, love but also a kindered spirits kind of emotions of some sort that just so fit these two together. It dosen't matter what happens around them, their bubble is perfect even if its for those two short lived weeks. Over the years of their said story, sometimes you need to be careful who you trust.

Jane's beautiful writing grabs your attention into their seperate lives, but kept your heart warm with so much love that you want to fight to kept Kes and Annie together.

Overall, The Traveling Man brought me to tears, as when things you believe are perfect, may not always seem to be true, your life can be shaken be the simplest of changes. Distance, Time and Trust was the one thing that were needed from each other.

One of my favourite quotes:
"I care about you!" he roared. "Christ!" He took a deep breath. "I'm trying here, Aimee. Maybe I don't say it pretty enough for you. But this is me, trying." ~ Kes

qupVbuSB I lived in London for over 10 years and have a love affair with New York. It's only since I have moved to the countryside, that the words have really begun to flow. I live in a small village by the ocean and walk my little dog, Pip, every day. It’s on those beachside walks that I have all my best ideas. Writing has become a way of life – and one that I love to share.
